For vessels calling Türkiye ports, Port State Control readiness should be approached as a practical technical condition review, not only as a certificate check.
Common technical attention areas include:
- Machinery space condition and general operating status
- Safety equipment readiness, including testing/servicing currency
- Pollution-prevention equipment condition (oily-water separator, sludge/bilge arrangements)
- Maintenance evidence consistent with the vessel’s planned maintenance system
- Crew familiarity with emergency equipment and procedures
- Status of defects and follow-up items recorded at previous port calls or inspections
An independent technical review before or during a Mersin or wider Türkiye port call can help shipowners and technical managers understand visible technical risk and confirm required corrective actions are genuinely complete, not just recorded as complete.
This note is provided for general technical awareness only. It is not an official Port State Control, flag-state, class, customs, legal, or government authority notice.
