For vessels calling Türkiye ports, Port State Control readiness should be approached as a practical technical condition review, not only as a certificate check.

Common technical attention areas include:

  • Machinery space condition and general operating status
  • Safety equipment readiness, including testing/servicing currency
  • Pollution-prevention equipment condition (oily-water separator, sludge/bilge arrangements)
  • Maintenance evidence consistent with the vessel’s planned maintenance system
  • Crew familiarity with emergency equipment and procedures
  • Status of defects and follow-up items recorded at previous port calls or inspections

An independent technical review before or during a Mersin or wider Türkiye port call can help shipowners and technical managers understand visible technical risk and confirm required corrective actions are genuinely complete, not just recorded as complete.
