According to a report by The Maritime Executive, the vessel involved was the Pilatus Marie, a 56,632 dwt bulker built in 2011 and currently flagged in San Marino.

Turkey’s coastal safety agency, KEGM, confirmed via social media that its Canakkale vessel traffic service coordinated the rescue, deploying a pilot boat alongside two rescue tugboats to free the vessel.

Once the grounding was reported, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure suspended shipping traffic through the strait and dispatched two tugboats, a service vessel, and a Coast Guard command to the scene.
